Leadership and Management

Leadership is of critical importance if we are to achieve a modern health and social care service.

Meeting the Challenge”, a national strategy for the allied health professions (DoH, 2000) and Making the change, (DoH, 2001) a national strategy for health care scientists, outlined the Government’s plans for developing and supporting these health care professionals to meet the needs of a modern Health Service. Within both these strategies there was explicit recognition of the need to develop leadership skills amongst these health professionals.
