Life Long Learning ProjectLeadership and Management - COACHINGCoaching is Objective 7 in the GMSHA Leadership Strategy. It's a valuable process for developing confidence, ability and leadership skills, and it should be available to all staff. SHA colleagues are working to develop a framework for coaching across the health economy within the next few years. Coaching is a process that emphasises the learning & development of an individual, and aims to improve their performance and develop their skills in a particular area, within a specific timescale. The process is non-judgemental in attitude, and involves developing objectives and following progress to achieve these, using feedback constructively. There are various models and approaches to coaching (www.briefconsultancy.com, www.coachingnetwork.org.uk, www.shu.ac.uk/schools/sbf), but all coaching aims to help you to develop and reach for your goals and dreams. Coaching skills can be used with colleagues, patients or anyone else in your professional life.
