Life Long Learning ProjectLeadership and Management - Project ManagementInitially Project Management was associated primarily with engineering, particularly with developments at the forefront of new technology. IT recognised its benefits and applied its sophisticated methodology to software programming. In today's dynamic working environment a project mentality is essential as an effective and widely understood approach to managing projects and implementing change. In order to bring about any change we must identify the desired outcome, this 'mission statement' must be clearly understood by all those involved. Next we must plan how we will achieve our mission; the resources needed in terms of people, finance and time. This planning stage is vital for the project to succeed, it must be clearly laid out in a project plan which is reviewed regularly and amended where necessary. Successful change needs to be driven, if it is not to be haphazard, lengthy and costly, however it is also important that the project manager is aware of the anxieties of those affected by proposed changes and wherever possible allay those fears.
