Every member of UNISON belongs to a local branch. In Bolton
there is one branch for employees working for Bolton PCT and
Bolton Hospitals Trust. The Unison branch Secretary is based
at Royal Bolton Hospital (see contacts below).
The branch is organised through a Committee made up of all
Branch Stewards some of whom have additional duties such as
Branch Chair, Treasurer, Education Officer etc.
Stewards can be elected at any time but there is an annual
election of all stewards and officers at the Branch Annual
General Meeting to which all members are invited.
People like you
Your branch brings you together with other employees who
face common issues in the workplace. Branches enable you to
get support from the union, work with your colleagues and
make your views felt in UNISON.
Workplace stewards and health and safety representatives are
the core of the branch. Without them there would be no union
to support you at work and negotiate for a better deal.
