Race and Ethnicity

Bolton PCT is committed to race equality and diversity among the population it serves and within its workforce. The PCT is a signatory to the Bolton Borough Community Cohesion Charter and a member of the Racial Harmony Forum.

The Race Relations (Amendment) Act places a duty on all public sector organisations to publish a Race Equality Scheme and this we are pleased to present. We are currently consulting on the Scheme and you can comment using the form provided. There's more information on this in the Consultation Letter.

The scheme builds on the programme of work being undertaken through the Ethnic Health Strategy. It will further strengthen the way the PCT provides its services and formulates its policies, and will also ensure that the PCT workforce reflects the make up of our population.

The PCT will work with local agencies and more importantly with our local minority ethnic communities (see Race Equality Charter) to take a more consolidated approach to race equality across the borough. In this way we believe we can make real our commitment not only to mainstreaming race equality but also improving the health and well being of all our local communities.
