GP AppraisalNHS Appraisal ToolkitThe NHS Appraisal Toolkit is a Department of Health funded project, developed to assist PCTs, GP appraisers and appraisees with an effective way of managing and carrying out appraisals. The toolkit provides a single online resource (portal) to access advice, guidance, summary of best practice, and practical tools. Additionally GPs have the opportunity to participate in a peer group community, where emphasis can be placed on preparation for the appraisal interview, in the context of local priorities and national guidelines. The Toolkit is available at www.appraisals.nhs.uk and is a free resource to primary care staff. NHS Appraisal Toolkit is a secure, easy to use, web-based application which offers an alternative to the paper-based system for both appraising and appraisee doctors working in the NHS. The Toolkit is designed to simplify the appraisal process by providing all the tools and information needed by appraisers and appraisees in an accessible, easy to use package. It automatically generates appraisal documentation; manages interaction between the appraisee, appraiser and PCT/Trust; allows access to priorities and contexts on a national, local and personal level; has the ability to upload and store documents; and provides clear appraisal guidance. For more information on NHS Appraisal Toolkit please email appraisals-enquiries@appraisals.nhs.uk or telephone 0191 2436127 CD-ROM from Department of HealthGP Appraisal – Appraisal for General Practitioners working in the in NHSThe CD-ROM has been produced by the Department of Health to provide helpful information about the appraisal process.
