Research GovernanceRegistering your research with the PCTPlease note that you must not participate in any research study, which has not been granted management approval by the PCT. The starting point for gaining management approval is making contact and registering your research proposal with The Greater Manchester Primary Care Research Governance Partnership (ReGrouP) http://www.gmregroup.nhs.uk/index.html which is based at Salford PCT and coordinates the approval of research projects for all the Greater Manchester PCTs. You must ensure that the ReGrouP office is notified and has given written management approval (on behalf of the PCT) for all research projects in which you are involved. This is additional to ethical approval and is a condition of REC (Research Ethics Committee) approval. For research involving clinical trials the Medicines for Human Use (Clinical Trials) Regulations make it an offence for anyone to undertake a clinical trial involving medicines without the appropriate authorisations in place.
