Comments and Complaints

Our aim is to purchase and provide high quality health services for the people of Bolton. We welcome your opinions which can often help us to achieve this aim.

All suggestions, comments or complaints will be dealt with in the strictest confidence, thoroughly investigated and any lessons learnt will be used to improve patient care for the people of Bolton.

We believe that complaints are an important way of receiving feedback about the services patients receive. Through the effective handling of complaints we hope to solve problems for the person complaining and, where appropriate, improve services.

Please get in touch if you have concerns about:

  • Community health care services provided by Bolton Primary Care Trust
  • Decisions taken by Bolton Primary Care Trust about purchasing health care for the people of Bolton
  • Staff employed by the Primary Care Trust

If your concern relates to hospital services, please contact the hospital concerned. If your concern relates to your family doctor or dentist, please contact the surgery in the first instance.

The Primary Care Trust now  has a Patient Advice and Liaison Service to answer your queries and resolve problems before they become serious complaints.

Bolton PCT continually reviews our services to improve the care we offer to patients. The PCT learns lessons as a result of complaint investigations and significant incidents and will work closely with colleagues from other NHS providers to improve patient care pathways where appropriate. Examples improvements made as a result of complaint investigations/incident reports can be found by clicking here
