Rights of Access to Information

The Freedom of Information Act recognises that as a member of the public, you have the right to know how public services such as the NHS are organised and run, how much they cost and how you can make complaints if you need to. You have the right to know which services are being provided, the targets that are being set, the standards of services that are expected and the results achieved.

The Publication Scheme will help you to find all the information which the Trust publishes, however, if you would like to see information or documents, which we do not routinely publish, then you have a right to make a request. To help you make a request we have included a form for you to complete. You can send the form to us via the post, fax or email at the address below:

The rights of access to information are subject to some exemptions which the Trust has to take into account before deciding what information can be released. If we are unable to release some or all of the information you request, we will explain this to you.
If we are able to supply the information you request, generally you will be provided with a copy within 20 working days. We will try and supply you with the information in the format you require, for example on paper, as an electronic document or CD-ROM.
Further information is available on the Bolton Primary Care Trust leaflet 'Freedom of Information Act 2000'
The Freedom of Information Act does not change your right to confidentiality, your personal information is still protected by the Data Protection Act 1998. Under this act you are entitled to access your clinical records or any other personal information held about you and you can contact The Data Controller at St. Peters House to do this.
New Environmental Information Regulations have also been introduced. These will enable similar access to environmental information, as under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
