Get Active Project
The Get Active Project consists of a Get Active Coordinator, 3 Get
Active Community Workers and a Cycle worker. It was developed through
findings from The Bolton Health Survey (2001), which found that low levels
of Physical Activity were significantly more prevalent in deprived areas of
Bolton and so was a contributory factor to the lower levels of life
expectancy in these areas. The project will undertake localised consultation
and mapping resulting in a Physical Activity Audit of each area and will
develop recommendations for each area taking into account results of the
Audit. The scheme will comprise of projects to support and encourage
behaviour change towards a physically active lifestyle. These will include
community based, mentor and volunteer-led initiatives. The Get Active areas
consist of:
- Rumworth
- Washacre
- Johnson Fold
- Hulton Lane
- Hall 'l' th Wood
- Great Lever
- Farnworth
- Crompton
- Halliwell
- Tonge and the Haulgh.
This is a permanent project that is initially funded by the Neighbourhood
Renewal Strategy and will continue to be funded by Bolton Primary Care
Trust.
