Adult Care for Staff

Are you a "carer". Not every carer realises they are one.

Do you look after a family member, relative, friend or neighbour who is unable to manage alone due to health reasons, disability or old age? Do you do the washing, cleaning, shopping? You don't have to live in the same house to be someone's carer. Are you trying to juggle, work commitments, caring commitment and family commitments?

There is help for you out there.

Practical help such as home care, meals on wheels, day centres and luncheon clubs, changes to home and equipment. There may also be financial benefits you can claim - Carers Allowance and Carers Premium depending upon your circumstances. There may also be benefits for the person you care for.
Social Services provide a Carers Assessment. They have a duty to assess you and your contribution when assessing the needs of the person you care for. If you care for a disabled child you have a right to an assessment even if the person you care for has refused an assessment by Social Services.

Full information on services can be obtained through Michelle Southern. Alternatively you can contact Bolton Carers Support on 01204 363056 between the hours of 10.00am - 12.30pm/1.30pm to 4.00pm. Website www.boltoncommunity.co.uk/boltoncarers

A great number of carer organisations have kindly agreed to support our staff and details of these can be obtained from Elizabeth Ainsworth.

Have you got your Bottle in the Fridge. This is a simple emergency scheme for you. It is for anyone and everyone especially those with additional medical conditions.
Put emergency information in your fridge inside the bottle with a sticker on the door to provide any emergency services with vital details. It can give you confidence in an emergency. The scheme is supported by The Ambulance, Fire and Police Services of Greater Manchester.
If you have still not got your "bottle in the fridge" please contact Elizabeth Ainsworth who will arrange this for you.
