Senior Management Development Programme (SMDP)

As an innovating organisation in a fast changing NHS, Bolton PCT needs senior managers who are equipped to rise to the challenge. We will need managers who have:

  • Creativity to develop new service models

  • Ability to work across organisational boundaries

  • Strong commissioning skills

  • Strategic and operational business skills to respond to commissioning and contestability.

As part of the Learning & Development Strategy, to support managers in meeting these challenges, the PCT has commissioned a new :

Senior Management Development Programme

From a partnership between two universities: the University of Bolton and Sheffield Hallam University, we present a flexible programme that includes

  • Modules on leadership, business skills, and service improvement

  • Elective modules

  • Mentorship

  • Action learning sets

The programme is accredited and leads to a post-graduate Certificate in Leadership.

The development of the programme is fully supported by the Chief Executive, Tim Evans, who is keen to see as many senior managers as possible make use of this development opportunity.
He says “It speaks volumes for the energy and dedication of our senior managers that they have participated in creating this leading edge development programme. An organisation that encourages and realises the potential of its staff, is an organisation that will succeed.”

The PCT is now seeking nominations for the programme
