Nutrition and Dietetic ServicesThe Nutrition and Dietetic Service employs Registered Dietitians, who provide impartial advice about nutrition and health, along with advice about food-related problems associated with disease and ill-health. They are supported by Assistants, Practitioners, Food and Health Advisers, Community Nutrition Workers and Clerical staff and work in a range of community settings including Health Centres, Children’s Centres, Nursing and Residential Care Homes, Intermediate Care, clients’ own homes and the Hospice. The Service is divided into teams and accepts referrals from GP’s and other health professionals. Please click on the links for details of each team’s Referral Pathway and Treatment Priorities. The Children and Young People’s Team includes Registered
Children’s Dietitians who provide advice and support for children and
families with specific dietary needs or feeding difficulties. Within this
service, there is a Children’s Weight Management Team who work
together to help children, young people and their families who have
requested help or would like help to manage their weight. The team includes
a Children’s Weight Management Dietitian and Children’s Weight Management
Adviser and Assistants. The Adult Team includes Registered Dietitians, Dietetic Assistants and an Assistant Practitioner. The team provides a service to people with Diabetes, Coronary Heart Disease and other medical or surgical problems that require dietetic intervention. Within this team is the Adult Weight Management Team which consists of a Food and Health Adviser and Community Nutrition Workers to provide practical advice and support for people who would like to maintain or lose weight in a community based setting. (Link here to ‘Adult Team Treatment Priorities’) The Nutritional Support Team includes Registered Dietitians and a Nutritional Support Practitioner who provide a specialist service to people who need nutritional support including tube feeding at home.
