Orthoptics Service

Orthoptists working in the community assess, diagnose and treat children with eye problems.

We work closely with the Community Consultant Ophthalmologist and accept referrals from the Consultant via General Practitioners, Health Visitors and School Nurses.

Orthoptists work in Health Centres, Clinics, Special Schools. A screening service is provided for all 4 - 5 year-olds, which includes an assessment of vision and tests to ensure that the muscles of the eyes are working correctly.

All Orthoptists are state registered.
