Children's Weight Management Team (C.W.M.T)Who we areThe C.W.M.T is an initiative to help address the concerns and issues
about childhood obesity. We are a team of professionals who work together to
help children (aged over 6), young people and families, who have requested
help or would like help to manage problems linked to being overweight. How the Children’s Weight Management Team workThe overall aim of our service is to try and help children, young people and their families address their weight management issues and achieve/maintain a healthy weight whilst learning to make positive lifestyle choices, to improve long term health. What do we offer?The treatment programmes involve regular appointments for the young person and some of their family members; usually over a period of 6 months. All sessions are free. MEND ProgrammeA group programme for 7 - 11 year olds and their families. The programme
runs twice a week over 10 weeks and includes activity sessions as well as
food and behaviour activities. At least one parent/carer must attend. Positive LEARN = Positive: Lifestyles, Esteem, Activity, Relationships & NutritionAn interactive, individually tailored programme to help children and young people become fitter, healthier and happier. The programme consists of up to 8 individual appointments and is for children and young people. Positive LEARN - Group ProgrammeIs a new group programme for young people 12 – 16, we are hoping to set up soon covering food and activity issues as well as offering practical advice & sessions. The programme will run for 6 weeks one evening a week for up to 2 hours. Support to ProfessionalsThe Children’s Weight Management Team also offers support and training
for Health Care Professionals who work with children, young people &
families on dealing with sensitive weight management issues. How do you refer?We welcome referrals from doctors, nurses and other people working with
children, young people and their families if they or you have discussed
