Dermatology

This PCT’s Dermatology service provides diagnosis, treatment and management of skin conditions, particularly eczema, psoriasis and acne. The service also provides treatment for benign skin lesions e.g. seborrhoeic keratoses and actinic keratosis. A minor surgery service is available.

The service is known as a “Tier 2” service – providing more specialist services in the community, that were previously only available in a hospital setting.

As part of the service the specialist staff also offer education to other Health Care Professionals. The service is provided by a General Practitioner with a Specialist Interest and Dermatology Nurse Specialists. Referrals (via RBMS and Choose and Book) are accepted from General Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners. Children and adults may be referred to the service.
