Minor Surgery Service

Using specially trained GPs, working with nurses and support staff, Bolton PCT is able to provide a minor surgery service in the community, at Pikes Lane Primary Care Resource Centre

Usually the surgery is the removal of small skin lesions such as

Sebaceous cysts
Skin Tags
Lipomata
Moles
Warty lesions
Papillomata

This is carried out under local anaesthetic.

The surgery can only be done in community setting when there are no additional risks or complications, and is only for adults (16 years and over). Patients who would be unsuitable include those undergoing anticoagulant therapy and those with cochlea implants or pacemakers. The service does not treat problems with toe nails, or facial blemishes which require a cosmetic finish.

Some minor surgery is also carried out by the PCT’s Dermatology Service at Lever Chambers Centre for Health

Patients are referred to the service by their own GP.
