Podiatry - Services for People with Diabetes

Foot health can be affected by Diabetes. Podiatrists can assess the risk factors through a special assessment, and this may reduce and prevent serious problems developing.

This is called the Diabetes Foot Screening Service and it's available in G.P surgeries. The assessment by trained screeners provides:

• A report to the Podiatrist recommending frequency of treatment
• A report to the patient's GP
• A report to the patient's Consultant at the Bolton Diabetes Centre
• An indication about special footwear requirements
• Referral for wound management.
