Podiatry - General Treatment

Following assessment, a treatment plan is devised. Patients may be treated for corns, callous nails or other general foot problems.

Podiatry - Nail Surgery

The removal under local anaesthetic of ingrowing toenails is carried out at Lever Chambers Centre for Health.

Podiatry - Wound Care

If foot ulceration occurs, a team of specialist Podiatrists in the Lever Chambers Centre for Health and in the community are available to arrange a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. This will involve the patient's GP, the District Nurse, the Tissue Viability Nurse and, when appropriate, the Diabetes and Vascular Consultants.

Podiatry - Acupuncture

Some patients with painful diabetic neuropathy (disease of the nervous system) do not respond to drug therapy and their doctor may recommend Acupuncture. Specially qualified Podiatrists provide this service at the Centre.

Podiatry - Veruccae Treatment

Treatment of painful lesions is provided at many health centres and referral for cryotherapy (freezing) is through Lever Chambers.

Podiatry - Foot Ulcers

Foot UlcerUnfortunately a minority of patients may acquire foot ulceration. Patients who have complex non-healing ulcers may be referred to a Specialist Podiatrist, a professional with qualifications in Leg Ulcer Management who teaches wound care to other health care professionals within the North West.
