Voucher Scheme

This scheme has been introduced to give service users a greater choice of wheelchairs. The voucher represents the value of the NHS chair prescribed by the service and allows patients to add money if they wish to upgrade their wheelchair.

Patients can choose between: -

• the 'partnership option' whereby Bolton Wheelchair Service remains the owner of the wheelchair and is responsible for all repairs and maintenance or
• the 'independent option' whereby the patient receives an amount of money for the wheelchair's maintenance and repair. The patient then owns the wheelchair and maintains total responsibility.
