PAT KARNEY

Director of Smoke Free Greater Manchester

Pat Karney has been director of Smoke Free Greater Manchester since April 2003.  Pat’s background is in local government and he has previously worked for Salford and Manchester Councils on community development and regeneration - he is, therefore, very keen to see local Councils play a bigger role in tobacco control.

Pat is a long standing Councillor on the Manchester City Council with lead responsibility for social strategy.  He is also the Council’s city centre spokesperson.  Pat was born in Dublin, so is incredibly proud of Ireland’s achievement.
